Friday Recipe: fish cakes

While learning about ocean life and seafood, our recipe for today is salmon fishcakes. We have spent the week learning about the ingredients that we would be could with and practicing a few skills that are required during the food preparation. These skills consisted of chopping onions; whisking eggs; pouring milk; mixing the flower and milk; and scooping and spooning. MS Rina had prepared the ingredients prior to the cooking session and during the session as MS Rina would discuss the method step-by-step, each child had their own bowl and would add their ingredients to their bowls.  Summer and Georgie are mixing flower and milk together. Once these ingredients were combined then Maxwell and Verity had added onion, celery & spring onions to the mixture. MS Rina showed the children how to shape the fish cake patties then she cooked them on the electric wok. Once they were ready the children had the pleasure of sampling them.

NQF  OUTCOME: Element 2.2.1: Healthy eating is promoted and food and drinks provided by the service are nutritious and appropriate for each child.
